I started today; gauge is ok horizontally--16 stitches = 4 inches, but short vertically. I get 20 rows = 3.75 inches. Bummer. It will work out, since I can use inches vertically. But it's annoying, anyhow.

Tired

Long day today, made an offer to our candidate. Hope he accepts. Not at all sure why I'm blogging; sort of like a diary, except I can't talk about identifiable problems. sigh.

Sarah's Audrey Top

Back to the Audrey top for Sarah. Put the front on holders because I ran out of yarn in separate balls. Now I need to finish the back and the shoulder straps, then I can go on to the front. Next time (?) I make this pattern, I think I will start from the shoulder straps and knit down. Might be able to get the strap length right, too.

Luke's Vest

I started Luke's vest again. Sigh. It's my favorite boy's vest pattern, Billie, from the Rowan book. And I'm using red Cascade 220. I started it for the first time on the trip back from Vancouver on December 26. Bad idea to start something in the car. I picked it up again yesterday to work on during the noon group at work. I'd cast on, joined, and knit two rows. After knitting and chatting for about half an hour in the group, I realized that I was off on the ribbing and needed to unknit about 1 1/2 rows. Didn't say anything to the others; didn't want to disillusion them. I unknit on the bus home, and again today during the Green Bay/Seattle football game. Then I knit 4 rounds. And discovered that I'd twisted the work when I joined it. Poor little boy, he would have had a Mobius sweater. Not good. I cast on again, but wasn't thinking that since I was knitting the round I need to cast on for both front and back. Knit two rounds and took it off the needles and started over. Now, I've knit five rounds and it's looking ok. Thank goodness!!! Went to Full Circle in Ballard to get size a 6 16 inch circular needle. The brand is KA, manufactured by Kinki Ambari in Japan. Hope I like them!

I'm using yarn left over from Quinn's vest. His took a little more than 2 balls of yarn, so I have one entire ball left along with the rest of the third ball from Quinn's.

Jen's Bag again

I started the bag on the ferry from Anacortes to Sydney BC yesterday. Worked on it for maybe about 2 hours, then another 3 hours or so today; one at Gordon Mains' house and the rest on the ferry back from Sydney to Anacortes. I finished the cord for the bag this evening while watching football--it's all done!

It looks pretty good; I hope Jen likes it. I think I'll try to make another one in a different yarn for Sarah. I thought there might have been enough yarn for a second bag, but there definitely not. The materials list says 91 yards of chunky yarn. Next time I might make the cord longer than 36 inches for the larger size.

Anyhow, there's another Christmas gift done. Next???

Jen's Bag

Today after work I took the #15 bus down 1st Avenue to So Much Yarn and bought a set of bamboo size 10 double-pointed needles for $10.50. I would have like to buy 16 inch size 10 Addi Turbo needles, but since I'd already paid over $10 for bamboo needles in Gig Harbor over Thanksgiving weekend specifically for this project, I decided not to spend the extra $$ until there was a very good reason for it. Hope I like bamboo.
